layering for fall

We think its pretty safe to say that autumn has officially landed in Ottawa. For the next six months (yes… Ottawa winters last for half a year), our summer clothes have been put away for hibernation, and are being replaced by layers and all things boot-related.

We’re not quite mentally prepared yet to break out the parkas, so we’ve become layering pros. CJ is wearing a preppy tie, courtesy of Southern Gents and created his layered look around that. Going for a collegiate look, a tweed blazer paired with a sweater vest makes for an awesome fall combo. Katherine layered a turtleneck and structured blazer, and paired them with riding boots — giving her rendition of a riding-inspired look.

So what have we been up to, other than dreading those Ottawa winters? If you haven’t been keeping up with our social media escapades, we’re so thrilled to have recently teamed up with Lavalife, an online dating site. Where we come in is that we’ll be their mens and women’s style contributors, to their lifestyle section.

Its also kinda crazy that we’re approaching our one-year blog-iversary! This time last year, we were just starting to get ahold of this camera business and struggling with shooting indoors. In the past few months, CJ has caught the photography bug.

With some new gear, and CJ’s plans to turn our apartment into an indoor studio, we’re actually excited to be blogging this winter. Having an indoor studio means that we can style outfits more freely, post more often, and also experiment with more editorial-type photos.
