camouflage and tulle

The day when the groundhog came up and let us all know we would be having an early spring – maybe we leapt a bit too high. That or it’s just good ol’ Ottawa weather, (hopefully some Ottawans will back us up on this). One wardrobe change later, and countless ducks inside between shots to regain feeling in our fingers and we got it done. We coined this post camouflage and tulle to highlight the pieces that we built our outfits around. Hope you guys like this one!

From her | The story of how my outfit came to be is kind of a funny story. My first look was totally not season-appropriate, and within minutes of stepping outside and a lot of complaining (thank goodness CJ is so patient with me), I ran inside to change. I grabbed the warmest things I owned, and layered away.

My new obsession for spring is this super cute umbrella. Usually opting for a boring black number that turns inside out with the slightest gust of wind, I was super excited when I spotted this wonderful Eiffel tower umbrella. Don’t forget that pieces that you don’t actually wear are also important parts of your outfit. Purses and clutches are obvious ones, but why not umbrellas too?

From him | So I get dressed in one of two ways. The first being my entire outfit, top to bottom, just comes to mind and I know exactly what I’m going to wear. Otherwise, I pick a piece I want to work work with and ‘build’ around it. This time ’round it was my newly thrifted camo pants that took centre stage. I’ve seen quite a few stylish guys on other blogs and Instagram rock the camo really well, so I really wanted to stamp my own take on it.

I’ve never tried pairing a conventional blazer with printed pants before but it’s definitely something you’ll see me do more often. I think there’s something fresh about mixing unexpected combinations together. Though they can spell disaster, when done correctly, can bring crazy good results. Hopefully I fall into that category..

Hi Katherine & CJ, I’m so glad I checked out your blog. You both have such great style and lovely photos! Katherine, I’ve definitely experienced that moment when you’re excited to wear something, but the weather necessitates something completely different. Either way, the end result you got is lovely and feminine. πŸ™‚ I’ve never been one for the camo trend (on guys or girls) but CJ’s look adds a polished look that I think works well. Great job, you two!

Wow your positive feedback means a lot to us, especially coming from someone as stylish as yourself! Sometimes it’s so disappointing when you have an outfit planned and it doesn’t work out, but we find that when we’re forced to make spur-of-the-moment decisions we think outside of the box. Thanks for checking us out, Theresa!
