what to wear: an afternoon lunch date
So this time not only are we bringing new looks to the blog, but also a new category. ‘What to wear when…’ is where we’ll be giving our style advice on what to wear, when! Have a first date and aren’t sure what to wear? Or maybe it’s that upcoming job interview? Whatever it is, we’ve definitely been there.
Since patio season is seriously in full swing, we thought we’d cover what to wear on an afternoon lunch date. If we’re heading to a patio, we always opt for something comfy and breathable – mostly to avoid over-sweatiness. Don’t bet against going for a little stroll to take in the sun after, so wearing a pair of shoes that you can walk in is a good idea (looking at you, ladies).
For the gents, my go-to for an afternoon date with my girl is a button-up with the sleeves rolled. I like keeping it casual, but still clean. Lose the socks and opt for some loafers or boat shoes – the jury is still out on men in sandals, so maybe leave those trusty Birkinstocks at home this time!
Ladies, don’t be afraid to be fun and flirty! Its a lunch date, so a flouncy skirt or colourful sundress is such an awesome way to celebrate the gorgeous weather – but still be super cute and comfy! I would leave the sexy body con at home for this occasion, and save that for drinks with your beau.
What she’s wearing Forever21 lace top | Sirens skirt | Le Chateau sandals | Material Girl necklace | ALDO clutch
What he’s wearing Indochino collared shirt | American Eagle blue pants | Wild Soul sunglasses | American Apparel skinny belt | Thrifted Allen Edmond tassel loafers
Would you wear something similar to an afternoon patio date? Also, if you have a dilemma about “what to wear when…” let us know. We’re always looking for new ideas, and would love to help you guys out!

Lovely! I love that skirt Katherine! I have the same one, only my butt is too big so then it’s too short in the back lol

I’m so in love with this skirt! My selling point was how the fabric is stiff, so I can walk around without worrying that I’d moon someone if it was too windy. Haha big butt problems, must be nice! 😛

I love this! I’m so excited to see that you two are adding a new style tip/how to category (as you may remember, I’m a big fan of those lol)!
Funny enough, I’m known to wear button collared shirts (with the sleeves rolled up!) just as often as I wear a skirt, haha.
Look forward to seeing new posts in this category!

Yay, I’m glad that you approve – especially coming from the queen of “how-to’s!” haha 🙂 They’re also super fun to do posts for, and gives us an excuse to go somewhere and dress for the occasion!
As for the collared shirts, that’s totally something that I need to get on. I have ONE collared shirt, and CJ is on my case for it!
