Unconventional Style

Before you call us out on our unseasonal shorts and even-shorter skirts outfits, we’re just going to go ahead and admit it – this post was totally supposed to be out a few weeks ago. Between exams and our trip to St. Lucia (photos coming soon!), the end of August in particular has been a whirlwind.

So what do we mean by “unconventional style”? When it comes to fashion, there’s always some pressure to wear what everyone else is wearing, or what other people will like. But we’re strong believers in personal style, and dressing in a way that makes you feel good!

Getting ready in the morning should be fun, so why not indulge in playing a little bit of grown-up dress up? Try thinking outside of the box. Katherine used a large graphic tunic as an edgy shift mini-dress. And CJ paired some shorts with a blazer and tailored shirt, although you’d usually see shorts worn with a casual tee.

As bloggers, something we initially struggled with was using the same pieces over and over again in different posts. But like everyone else, we have bills to pay and don’t have bottomless wallets!

A lesson we learned very quickly is actually at the heart of this post –Β seeing your clothes in other ways than originally intended. Mix and match, and have fun with the pieces that you have, and you’ll be surprised at how far you can stretch your wardrobe!

I’m not sure if there’s another way to say this without exaggerating, but, I am 100% in agreement with your comments when it comes to personal style! I adore the tunic and am always a fan of mixing things up. Funny enough, I had a post this week about tunics/oversized shirt dresses and I have a post tomorrow where I use a lot of items I’ve worn in previous posts (no shame!). I’m a firm believer that mixing and matching what you already own is a creative exercise that shouldn’t go neglected. πŸ™‚

I have always been a fan of shopping your own closet! Great post and amazing outfits as usual! Love the tunic posing as a shift and of course CJ pulls off a blazer and shorts like nobody else !

Have something to say?
