Getting out of that winter funk
Ottawa is in a bit of a deep freeze right now, and it’s hard to bring myself to want to do anything other than hibernate. But knowing full well that we have a good three, solid months of winter ahead of us, it’s all about mind over matter right now.
It’s so easy to throw on some rubber boots and fleecy socks and call it a day, but in my mind, this is only letting the cold win. I’ll be honest, there are definitely days that I look outside, and dread running errands, going to school, or heading to work. But alas, life keeps on going, even on the coldest winter days. So, how do I pull myself out of that winter funk? That desire to do nothing but stay in my PJs all day?
Something about putting on a great outfit has a way of putting you into a great mood, and yanking you out of that hibernation mode. With the shorter days, wind and cold, I can’t say that winter is my favourite time of year, but I won’t let any of the above put me into a funk.
While the bare legs may be prematurely spring, just thinking about spring has a funny way of making me feel just a little bit warmer. I’m in love with all the spring projections this year — geo print and the simplicity of black and white. These are such classic combinations that they’re so in-season, yet easily transitioned into the warmer months. For now, I would definitely wear some tights underneath the skirt to keep my leggies warm, but am so looking forward to pairing this with a relaxed tank from the One-Eleven collection once Ottawa comes out of this deep freeze in spring.
Don’t fall into the trap of winter hibernation – get out of that winter funk! Although it may be cold outside, there’s so much to do, see, and experience around the city this time of year. So put on a fabulous outfit and a beautiful smile to match, and let that inspire you to enjoy even the coldest days this winter!
