a close to V-day week: our collaboration with Who is Arlette
This past weekend, we had the amazing opportunity to work with Cindy of Who Is Arlette and her husband Wil, photographer of Dreams to Photos. We really shouldn’t call this work, as we had so much fun hanging out around Ottawa with such a creative duo.
Cindy first reached out with the awesome idea of featuring us to close out her Valentine’s week Style File: V-Day Couple’s Edition. We were interviewed about our his and her take on romance, and the afternoon was captured by photographer extraordinaire, Wil. We couldn’t be happier with how the photos turned out; to see our entire spread and interview, check out her blog. Cindy is definitely one of Ottawa’a up-and-coming creative writers and is an all around a fashion, art, and lifestyle guru!

Fantastic blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on
everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any recommendations? Cheers!

Thanks so much for reaching out to us, it’s quite flattering! We’re definitely not professional writers by any means, but in terms of writing on a blog, it really varies depending on the type of blogging you plan to do (fashion, lifestyle, creative writing, etc.) but the most general advice we can give you is always commit to writing quality pieces and also try to let your personality show through your posts.
As for a platform, WordPress is really good for those that don’t have much of a background in computers and design. We like WordPress because its so user friendly, but it does have its limitations. We recommend doing some research, and possibly looking into other hosting sites like Google blogs or Blogspot. Paid options are sufficient, but you generally need to purchase upgrades if you want to personalize your blog a bit more.
