Cozy staples and Christmas holidays

As far as winters go, this isn’t exactly our typical December, is it? All this cold and wet weather has me reaching for two things every morning: a steamy cup of coffee and my coziest sweaters.

The other day, CJ and I drove to Westboro for an afternoon to get some work done over coffee. Westboro is one of our favourite areas in Ottawa. It’s quaint yet upscale, has lots of local cafes, and some of the best restaurants we’ve been to in the city. People are always out window shopping, with their young families, or walking their dogs, so it’s a really lively area and a nice spot to get comfy, grab a coffee, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area.

The turtleneck and thick knit are perfect for layering, but what I really love about this sweater are the unexpected asymmetrical hemlines and slits down the sides. It pairs really well with anything high-waisted, like these jeans or even leather leggings.

Needless to say, we didn’t get much work done that day. But with how crazy life has been in the past month, it was kind of nice to just spend some time with each other, snapping photos and doing what we love. We’ll definitely be keeping this sentiment in mind over the Christmas holidays, where it’s so easy to take this “time off” and turn it into another whirlwind. We’re looking forward to spending time with family and friends — and also, with ourselves.
