Time to shake up your closet with The Closet Collective

Shopping for charity — who would’ve thought that these two words could be placed beside each other! Well, the Ottawa school of Art and our good friend Carolynn Lacasse of J’adore This are bringing the second annual The Closet Collective event to Ottawa on Friday, November 20th, you can help support local non-profits by shopping your way through a curated closet sale.

Yes, ladies and gents, you absolutely heard that right. The most fashionable men and women in the city are parting with some of their gently loved pieces, to bring a unique and chic fundraising experience to the city. The OSA will be transformed into a cozy boutique and filled with racks of clothing.

The school will even be transformed with music and a bar, which will definitely make this a Friday night out you won’t want to miss!

Proceeds from the The Closet Collective will go directly to support various charities: The Ottawa School of Art registers 3000 students a year, and has an outreach program that offers free art classes to at-risk kids in the Ottawa area; Dress for Success, a suiting program that aims to help women become independent and empowered, by helping them find an interview outfit and offering resume coaching; and St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, a safe place for women and their children to spend the day.

So how about that? You get to go home with some carefully curated thrifted finds, and warm fuzzy feelings.

As if we’re not already excited for this Friday, but you also have the chance to win a $50 or $100 gift certificate to shop at the St. Laurent Centre.

Interested in donating as well? You can stop by the Ottawa School of Art during their regular business hours if you’d like to contribute.
