Flanelle Magazine Editorial ft. Some insight into ourMode

ourMode has been officially published as stylists! In early November when the temperatures weren’t as sub-zero and wearing risquΓ© backless dresses was more socially acceptable, we worked with our good friend and exceptional photographer, Wil of Only1 “O” Photography to put something together that was totally out of our comfort zone.

Wil, having an endless supply of creative fashion-photography juice, gave us a storyboard of how he wanted this shoot to turn out. Think chic turned street. Or high fashion infused with edge.

If you guys recall our post about “switching up your style” which was published on the Le Chateau blog, this is actually Part II of that series. For this set of photos, Wil sent our shots to Flanelle Magazine in hopes of getting it published. After a good month or so of waiting with our fingers crossed, Wil’s editorial was released with ourMode’s name up in the headlines!

We’re super humbled that we’ve been recognized for our styling efforts, but why else was this so important to us?

There’s something so rewarding about blogging. Think of each post like a mini-project. You know that feeling you get when you make that “we killed it” eye contact with your partner after a presentation? Or that feeling at the end of the week when you view your sales reports, and finally see all the culmination of your hard work in its final numbers? Or maybe that feeling when you finish a painting that you’ve been working on?

Now that’s the feeling that we get, each time we publish a post, and maybe more specifically, why we were elated to be published as stylists. Whether its something you do for fun, for school, or for work, being proud of what you’ve done is so important — and being recognized for your work from time to time is like the cherry on top! This kind of positivity and self-satisfaction in what you do is what keeps you moving forward.

So on another note and to bring this full circle — where does this fit in with ourMode exactly? If you’ve been following our blogging journey over the past few months, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve taken a bit of an unintended hiatus. Between the new combination of full time work and school, and us taking on some personal projects of our own, we’ve never been this busy before. But we love what we do and truly find it so rewarding. So yes, we might be super busy, but we have big plans for ourMode moving forward. BIG plans.

So although our posts may be a bit sparse in the coming months, we look forward to each and every project, and are always even more grateful for everyone’s positive vibes and support!

I LOVE this look even though it definitely is a cross of styles and totally different than what I would think of putting together. Music is definitely something that fills me with positivity as well as others who are passionate about it.

Thanks Silvia! That was definitely the challenge of it – but that’s what made styling this editorial so fun! Its not everyday that I get to pair a floor length dress with a studded cap πŸ˜› And that’s the same for myself too. Although I wish I could sing or play some sort of instrument, I have a huge appreciation for those that do have the talent!

Have something to say?
