Richard Robinson Grand Premiere 2013

This past weekend, we were invited to attend the Richard Robinson Grande Premiere 2013, showcasing the collections designed by Mr. Robinson himself and his talented students of his Fashion Design Academy. The highly anticipated event took place at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau.

Going in with no expectations, we were totally blown away by most of the designs that came down the runway. Some designers took the show up a notch with theatrics, adding to the overall spectacle. One had her models strut down the runway in ghoulish masks (take that, Adrian Wu!), while another designer had a model tumbling and pirouetting to open up her collection.

While hindered a bit by our lack of longer zoom lens, we were able to grab some shots of the designs. Again, we want to thank the Academy for graciously inviting us. If this show was any indication, Ottawa has got some serious fashion talent in the ranks.

the Great Gatsby invades Ottawa!

On Wednesday night we attended the Great Gatsby Salon fundraiser, at the St Laurent Centre. If you’ve followed from our last post, we were asked to attend the event as their special guests and cook up a guest post for the STL blog. When we walked into the room, it was seriously like we had stepped out of a time machine, right into the Buchanan mansion. From the jazz playing in the background, to the servers in twenties garb, to the vintage decor – the atmosphere was so authentic.

It was such a wonderful evening, especially because we were finally able to put faces to some names and meet the creative minds behind the entire event. And of course, we weren’t complaining about the bottomless cocktails and hors d’oeuvre as well!
