the Great Gatsby invades Ottawa!

On Wednesday night we attended the Great Gatsby Salon fundraiser, at the St Laurent Centre. If you’ve followed from our last post, we were asked to attend the event as their special guests and cook up a guest post for the STL blog. When we walked into the room, it was seriously like we had stepped out of a time machine, right into the Buchanan mansion. From the jazz playing in the background, to the servers in twenties garb, to the vintage decor – the atmosphere was so authentic.

It was such a wonderful evening, especially because we were finally able to put faces to some names and meet the creative minds behind the entire event. And of course, we weren’t complaining about the bottomless cocktails and hors d’oeuvre as well!

Gatsby fashion!

With The Great Gatsby being one of the biggest film releases of the year, it’s no wonder that 1920s-inspired fashion is everywhere!

Ottawa is getting in on the action, with the St Laurent Centre hosting a Gatsby-themed fundraiser to support the Ottawa Cancer Foundation. So where do we come in? Well, it so happens that we were invited as their special guests! We were also generously given gift cards to shop for the occasion, and were asked to write a guest post on their blog!

They let us loose us on the mall to see what we would come up with for the glamorous event. Being huge admirers of vintage fashion, but still wanting to make it uniquely our own, we mixed our new finds with our own closet faves to create these looks.
